The cleaner is used by adding a small amount a level cap (1 tbsp) to a hot setting in your washer and allowing it to complete the cycle. Extreme odor cases may need to pause the washer to allow a soak in order to dissolve the moldy mess.
If the smell returns you should add a cap of Smelly Washer or Smelly Towel to a full load of towels or laundry. The laundry will raise the water level to reach to splash area above the normal waterline. This is the worst area of buildup from suds and soiled water splashing up and not getting rinsed out.
To clean your dishwasher with Smelly Washer add just split 1 cap between the soap dispensers and the floor of the unit and complete a hot cycle. Soak for worse cases.
NOTE: After the washer has been cleaned and odor removed you may need to change washing habits in order to keep the smell away.
Will this cleaner clean the rubber gasket around the front of the washer that seals tightly to the door? Mine is full of mold spots.
Wendy - Smellywasher will remove mold from the door gasket of your front load washer. The best way to use it is to fill a spray bottle with hot water and a teaspoon of smellywasher. Spray the affected areas liberally and allow them to soak for several hours. Staining caused by mold spots may require repeated cleaning and/or vigorous scrubbing to remove.
